چکیده
The current study evaluated the impact of intercropping Cowpea and Moong bean on Maize yield its constituent parts. Nine different treatments were used in experiment viz., (T1) sole Maize, (T2) Cowpea, (T3) bean, (T4) + (1:1), (T5) (1:2), (T6) (1:3), (T7) (T8) (1:2) and, (T9) (2:1) a randomized block design with three replications Kharif season. findings showed that intercropped plants had greater potential produced higher values for majority studied criteria, including plant height, chlorophyll meter reading (SPAD) number cobs plant-1, rows cob-1, grains row-1, 100-grain weight, straw grain yields Intercrop’s seed less than Maize. was best treatment having highest (5915.83 kg ha-1), maximum LER (1.8) MEY (kg ha-1) (11663.36). This clearly demonstrated advantages legumes. is because leguminous crops can provide additional nutrients to crop through biological nitrogen fixation (BNF). Additionally legumes improve declined soil productivity by enhancing overall conditions like chemical, biological, physical. increased availability enhancement physical, chemical properties growth, leading yield. it boosts conservation providing more ground cover mono-cropping.

The effects of petroleum products (kerosene, diesel, engine oil and petrol) treatment of soil at various sublethal concentrations (0.0%, 0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) on oxidative stress markers (lipid peroxidation, superoxide dismutase activity, catalase activity and xanthine oxidase) were studied in cowpea and maize seedlings. The results indicated that the petroleum products caused...

Quality Protein Maize is an improved variety of maize which contains higher amount of lysine and tryptophan. Cowpea is an indigenous legume widely consumed in Nigeria. Quality Protein Maize was malted by steeping, germinating, drying and milling while cowpea was dehulled, steamed, dried and milled. The resulting flours were blended to produce complementary food at ratios of 100:0; 70:30 (Qualit...

The use of microorganisms to improve the availability of nutrients to plants is of great importance to agriculture. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of triple inoculation of cowpea with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) and rhizobia to maximize biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) and promote plant growth. The experiment was conducted in a greenhous...
